The one-hook flattie rig is nice and simple to tie, but no less effective because of that. This is a good, basic, boat or shore rig for flattie fishing and, obviously, if you want to copy it you can change the number, size or colour of the beads and so on.
I tie this rig with the hook snood close to the lead link. This keeps the baited hook nice and close to the bottom.
This version uses size 4 Tsunami Mako hooks. These are quite big for the stated size. When I tie these rigs for individual customers they can specify the hook sizes, which cover 4, 2, 1 and 1/0. Similarly, the snood strength can be specified – ranging in breaking strain from 18lb to 30lb, and the size and colour of the beads can also be selected, from 3mm to 8mm.
