The Penn Squall range of reels is deservedly popular. This 30-sized example is a big reel with plenty of line capacity, making it ideal for big fish and deep water. With a 4.9:1 gear ratio it’s no slouch, and twin sealed bearings make it a smooth operator.
With a light graphite body and three bearings, this is a decent entry-level surf reel. Built for simple, fuss-free fishing, the Iridium Dream is a bit of a revelation.
Already enthusiastically received, these sealed fixed-spool reels from Cinnetic look ideal for lure fishing.
It’s hard to think of any better-regarded multiplier reels than the Penn Mag series. Since their inception they’ve set standards for reliability and ease of use that have attracted, and more importantly kept, large numbers of happy users.
The Penn Fathom 12 multiplier reel is the smallest in the Fathom range, but don’t let that put you off.
